We offer lessons year-round to riders of all levels in either English or Western disciplines. Our horses are capable of handling riders 175 lbs or less and over the age of 8. The goal of instruction is to provide the foundation for a lifetime of horsemanship. You decide when and how many lessons are right for you. Lessons will focus on proper form, position and balance. Students will progress at their own individual level. Contact us for current pricing.
BEGINNER-ADVANCED LEVEL LESSONS - 1 hour, private
The first lesson will involve an evaluation of the student and will focus on building a strong foundation. The student will learn how to groom & tack a horse. The remainder of the lesson will cover proper mounting, correct positioning, and riding at a walk.
Further lessons will review ground handling and will then progress to riding at a trot/jog, and then at a canter/lope. Lessons will proceed to more advanced riding as the student becomes more proficient. Lessons involve total horsemanship, not just riding.
In addition to ride time, the following basics are covered in the Beginner Level Lessons:
· Fundamentals of horsemanship
· Horse safety
· Grooming & Tacking your horse
· Types of tack and how to use it
ALL LEVELS SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS - 1 hours, 2+ riders with 1 instructor
Sometimes it's more fun to ride together and learn ring etiquette with a group of riders. Contact us for current lesson options and rates.
BARN DAYS - 3+ hours, large groups (Cost=$50/person)
Barn Days are geared towards groups, whether it be a group of kids for a birthday party or a group of Scouts earning their Horsemanship Badge. Contact us for scheduling and availability. Barn Days can include one or more of the following:

Looking for more of a challenge and to grow your riding skills outside of lessons? Leasing or share-boarding options are available to students who have taken weekly lessons for a minimum of 3 months at our barn. Leasing is a great next step for our intermediate and advanced riders who want more opportunities to improve their skills without the full responsibilities of horse ownership. We offer personalized training programs to meet the unique needs of each horse and rider. Enjoy reduced-rate private or semi-private lessons and trail rides with your lease!
PLEASE NOTE: 1) Leases are offered ONLY to current students who have taken weekly lessons for a minimum of 3 months at Courtesy Stable and 2) depending on the availability of our current horses.
Leasing fees are coordinated with each horse's owner and depends on the amount of riding and lesson days desired as well as the availability of each horse. Please inquire with the Barn Manager for more information.
